FAQ'S

WHICH EMPLOYEES NEED CERTIFICATION?
Any employee who does or may come in contact with blood, organic material, or used medical equipment MUST be certified in having completed OSHA training. Any employee who comes in contact with ANY patient information must be certified in having completed HIPAA training. Because of the close proximity of a medical office, ALL employees should be certified for having completed both HIPAA and OSHA courses to reduce and minimize risk.

HOW OFTEN MUST EMPLOYEES RENEW CERTIFICATION?
Employees must renew certifications annually.

WHEN DO NEW EMPLOYEES NEED TO BE CERTIFIED?
New employees must be certified of having completed training within 10 days of their hire date.

WHAT ARE THE PENALTIES FOR NON-COMPLIANCE?
Misuse of information against HIPAA regulations may result in excessive fines and even criminal penalties. Non-compliance with OSHA regulations may result in excessive fines and may also result in contamination of employees and patients with potentially harmful blood borne pathogens.
